Parade of Homes for Beginners

The 14th Annual Parade of Homes was the first time I had ever been a part of the annual event for Reach Out Morongo Basin. I had always heard about it, but I had never been available to take the tour or docent at one of the houses. I was so excited that I could finally be a part of it this year. It was so much fun! I was a docent at Tower Homestead in Twentynine Palms along with Jennifer Art and Rebecca Unger. We saw so many people come through the property throughout the six hour event. There were people that even showed up before we officially started. We met people from all over the Morongo Basin as well as visitors from down the hill, other parts of Southern California, other states, and other countries even! It was the coolest thing to meet all these new people and show them how we live. There were more than 300 people that came through the area to view all of the beautiful homes we had on display in Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree, and Morongo Valley. Plus, they got to have lunch at the delicious Park Rock Café in Joshua Tree. Overall, it was an incredible experience that I am truly glad to have been a part of. I can’t wait until next year when we have our 15th Annual Parade of Homes!

We are going to be very busy these next few months. We’ll be at a number of events in March including the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club’s Carnival and the Woof Walk in Pioneertown. One event that I am looking forward to is our Dance Into Spring Zumbathon on Saturday, April 7 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. We did a Zumbathon back in November, and we had so much fun that we decided to bring it back! We have four Zumba Instructors lined up including myself, Jean Goicochea, Angelica Miller, and Monica Lopez. It’s going to be a great time for everyone, and it’s entirely family-friendly! There will be more information about it later in the newsletter, so be sure to look out for it.

This has been such a great year at Reach Out Morongo Basin. I started back in April, and I have loved every minute of it. I can’t thank Robin enough for bringing me on to work for this incredible organization. Everyday there is something new to do. Plus, it’s always a joy to come into work when the people you work with are pretty cool. (Shout out to Sharee for keeping me sane and always having answers to all of my questions.) I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for Reach Out. I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best years yet!
