Gearing Up for Fall

In sitting down to write out the message for this month’s newsletter I had a hard time figuring out where to start.
We have been so very busy. Not only with fundraising and community events, but here at the Senior Center itself.
It seems like fall is when things really kick off after a long hot desert summer, and we have more people coming in. With lunches for seniors and our recreational activities such as billiards, computers, library, and weekly Bridge games, there seems to always be something happening here. Also, we have upcoming healthcare seminars, flu shot clinics, Medicare informational seminars because of the upcoming open enrollment and so much more. We are even working on having Senior Zumba classes soon!
Maybe it is very fitting as September is National Senior Center Month. The wonderful thing about a Senior Center is not just all the activities to learn, grow, and stay healthy – the best thing about the Senior Center is the camaraderie and friendships you build. Many of our seniors may live alone, but they aren’t lonely with the new ‘family’ they have here. Take the time to come on down to your local Senior Center, see what they have to offer, and meet a new friend or two!
Until next month, be safe, happy, and healthy!
