Big Things Are Happening

These next few weeks have a lot in store for our little non-profit. From our Twentieth Anniversary Celebration to helping the City of Twentynine Palms with the 4th of July Celebration, we have quite a bit on our plate.

Our Twentieth Anniversary Celebration (sponsored by SCAN Health Plan and Monument Motors) will be taking place on Saturday, July 13 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. Tickets for the Celebration are only $40 per person or $70 for a couple. With your ticket, you will have a delicious dinner catered by Bruce’s Place, cocktails, live music from Hunter and the Wick’d, and some great Silent Auction items to take a chance at winning. The best part is that someone could win 2 tickets to our 2020 Parade of Homes tour! There’s only one way to know if you’re that lucky individual: buy a ticket and come to the Celebration! It’s going to be a great time, so come on out and join us!

As you may or may not know, we have been helping the City of Twentynine Palms with this year’s 4th of July Celebration at Luckie Park. We have been working every day getting some amazing vendors for the event, so we hope you will come on out and join us from 4:00pm to 10:00pm on July 4. Not only will we have our face painting happening at the event, but we will also have a Watermelon Eating Contest and an Opportunity Drawing. We have many prizes you can try to win including numerous gift cards/certificates to local and out-of-the-area restaurants (such as Pappy & Harriet’s, Joshua Tree Saloon, 29 Palms Inn, Eight4Nine, and more), tickets from the Palm Springs Tramway, a certificate for Wine Tasting for 2 at Wilson Creek Winery, tickets to the Natural History Museum of LA County or La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, a Boat Tour of Copper Canyon in Lake Havasu, and a 3-day, 2-night stay at the London Bridge Resort in Lake Havasu. These are just a few of the amazing prizes we have, and your only chance to win is at the 4th of July Celebration in Twentynine Palms.

Starting in July, we will begin having a bi-weekly Caregiver Peer Support Group at the Yucca Valley Senior Center. You can learn more about this group as well as our ongoing group at the Twentynine Palms Senior Center later in the newsletter.

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District will be back at the Twentynine Palms Senior Center on Tuesday, July 9 from 9:00am to 1:00pm with the Mobile Medical Unit. Appointments are highly encouraged, and walk-ins will be accepted as time permits. For more information, call (760) 365-9305.

Bill Proctor and Associates Insurance Company has a monthly educational session to inform community members even more about Medicare. The next session is all about Medicare Savings Programs. If you are interested in taking part in this class, come on down to the Twentynine Palms Senior Center on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00am.
